Gorgeous relaxed bar and hotel

Built in 1828, The Southern Belle is a relaxed pub & hotel and is proud to be the oldest running pub and guesthouse in the Brunswick Area of Brighton and Hove. Brunswick Town (as this neighbourhood is called) is one of the most historically preserved Georgian planned communities in the South of England, and arguably the nicest neighbourhood in the Brighton & Hove area. We’re not the only ones who love this place as we’ve been used a number of times for photoshoots and even music video’s!

One of best things The Southern Belle Hotel is its location – just moments from the beach and Hove lawns. The blue skies and sea air offer a gentle breeze from the moment you step outside. With central Brighton just 10 minutes walk away, the i360 only a short 5 min stroll – the location is perfect for getting out of the town centre, but still having easy access to everything you could want!

Our lovely little hotel offers guests a choice of beautifully designed luxury bedrooms along with our very comfortable standard room (twin, double and triple rooms available) – so if you are looking for a great, comfortable hotel with clean rooms, lovely staff, a little bit of history all within walking distance to the beach – then we’re the place for you!

The relaxed bar still features the original back bar display and serves up a fantastic selection of craft blonde and black beers, Sussex ales, stouts & porters, artisan gins, speciality whiskies and fine wines.

Our kitchen  – winner of 2018 Bravo Best Sunday Roast Awards, serves up some amazing awarding winning food, featuring Tara’s Tiffin which serves up some amazing Sri Lankan & Indian street food Mon – Wed (6-10pm). Thursday (6-10pm), Fri & Sat (12- late_) you’ll find our scrumptious Southern Belle menu by Laron Solomon and Sunday is host to our legendary Sunday Roasts (booking essential).

The lovely lounge area is also available to hire for functions, private dining or is a great quiet space for hotel guests and bar guests to enjoy a drink or meal in.

If you are looking for a venue for your birthday, wedding/civil ceremony reception or any special occasion then look no further as we have the option of our theatre & lounge room available for private hire and the advantage of your guests being able to book into the hotel rooms upstairs.

Lovingly homemade authentic Sri Lankan & Indian street food, creating delicious flavours and textures. Meat, Vegetarian and Vegan options.

Fish cutlets

Fish cutlets Tuna mixed with a blend of spices coated with breadcrumbs and shallow fried until golden – served with homemade chilli sauce. 3 cutlets.

Bhel Puri

Gram flour strands, puffed rice, peanuts, married with sweet tangy tamarind chutney and fresh coriander chutney. Garnished with potato, finely chopped onions and fresh coriander. Mix well to get a taste explosion. Veg / vegan.

Pani Puri

6 light crispy pastry shells filled with delicately spiced potato and chick peas. Topped up with a spicy tangy pani (water) shot – best eaten all in one go! Veg / vegan

Aloo tikki chaat

3 lightly spiced aromatic potato cake garnished with sweet tangy tamarind chutney, fresh coriander chutney, yogurt and garnished with fresh tomato, gram flour strands and fresh coriander. Veg. Vegan option (no yogurt).

Chilli Chips

Chips dusted with mild chilli powder and salt. Garnished with fried onions, garlic and sliced green chillies and fresh coriander. Veg /Vegan/GF (£4 – no cheese)
